Manchester Baroque kicks off its sixth season on 4 October. In the magnificent setting of Hallé St Peter’s in Ancoats, the opening performance, Dance of the Nations, brings together dancers and musicians in a celebration of European Baroque music. Since its launch in 2019, Manchester Baroque has built a reputation for its performances of historical music on period instruments. Through chamber music concerts, orchestral works and larger-scale oratorios, with one concert per month, its programme focuses on historically informed performances that also showcase the city’s rich architectural heritage. Coming up in November are Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos, and in December at the cathedral, Handel’s Messiah
