In the aftermath of the Black Death, Florence begins to sing again. In “Firenze 1350”, Anna Danilevskaia and Sollazzo Ensemble revive the musical vitality of the Trecento, conjuring gardens filled with birdsong, love songs, devotion and hunting scenes hurtling forward at full speed.

Supported and later hosted in residence by the Ambronay Cultural Encounter Centre, Sollazzo Ensemble explores the musical golden age of fourteenth-century Florence in Firenze 1350. Through works by Francesco Landini, Paolo, Giovanni and Lorenzo da Firenze, voices, vielles and period instruments paint a luminous portrait of a city scarred by plague yet sustained by an extraordinary artistic revival.
