Drawing inspiration from Nicolas Chédeville‘s musette arrangement of Vivaldi‘s Four Seasons, François Lazarevitch and Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien breathe new life into six Vivaldi concertos, infusing them with delightful energy and reviving their colours.
The spectacular alternation of solo instruments, all played by Lazarevitch, leads to the first metamorphosis of these atypical Four Seasons. In Spring, the musette returns as required by Chédeville’s whimsical yet demanding version from 1739. The other three concertos, adapted from string originals, feature the recorder and traverso. These variations in timbre, velocity, and inventiveness reveal all of Vivaldi’s contrasting subtleties.
