The 26-year-old Canadian soprano Bridget Esler has won First Prize (€4,000) at the 15th Froville International Baroque Singing Competition, as well as the Audience Prize (€500). Swedish soprano Josefine Mindus took Second Prize, whilst Italian countertenor Andrea Gavagnin came third. French mezzo-soprano Celeste Ingrand received the Prix du Domaine départemental du château de Lunéville – Best Newcomer, and French soprano Tanaquil Ollivier was awarded the Prix Génération Opéra. The six finalists — chosen from a shortlist of sixteen candidates — were accompanied by I Gemelli during the final on 20 September at Froville Church.
The jury was chaired by soprano Sandrine Piau, alongside Mathilde Étienne (I Gemelli), Eva-Maria Sens (Innsbrucker Festwochen/Cesti Competition), Ève Coquart (Opéra de Clermont-Ferrand), Jérôme Gay (Génération Opéra), as well as, according to the official list published by the competition, bass-baritone Stephan MacLeod and countertenor Paul-Antoine Bénos-Djian.
