From 27 to 31 August, FEL!X festival in Cologne (Germany)

For its seventh edition, the FEL!X music festival in Cologne will focus on the musical world of Bohemia from 27 to 31 August. This time, it will focus on the soundscape of an Eastern European region whose music, influenced by Italian and Austrian traditions, had a profound impact on Western musical creation in the 17th and 18th centuries. The programme has been designed by Czech conductor Václav Luks, a great connoisseur of Bohemian musical culture. A highlight awaits the audience on 30 August: under the title FEL!X URBAN, the festival will showcase the city through free performances by young artists in various churches and museums around the Cologne Philharmonic Hall and in the baptistery under Cologne Cathedral Square. Also worth noting are the opening and closing concerts featuring Requiems by Mozart and Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, performed by the host ensemble Collegium 1704 and the Freiburger Barock Consort respectively. Another highlight is Georg Anton Benda’s melodrama ‘Medea’ performed by the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin.
