9–16 October: 2nd Hamburg Early Music Flow Festival

The 2nd Hamburg Early Music Flow Festival is dedicated to early Baroque music from Hamburg, featuring in particular works by Thomas Selle, who served as director of sacred music for Hamburg’s four main churches in the 1640s. In addition to an extremely rich body of sacred music, Thomas Selle also composed secular works such as wedding music. Thanks to this diversity, the festival programme alternates between sacred and secular works. Sacred music is juxtaposed with festive music, which even includes (on 11 October) yoga sessions for the audience and a ‘family’ concert with free admission. The closing concert – featuring secular and sacred polyphonic works from Hamburg’s early Baroque period – will be performed at St Catherine’s Church by the 16 musicians of the Early Music FLOW Ensemble. The Flow Festival takes place in Hamburg from 9 to 16 October 2026, at three different venues, including the Laeiszhalle for the opening concert.
