The Greek myth of Iphigenia has long inspired composers. While the Innsbruck Festival features two versions this summer—by Antonio Caldara (1713) and Tommaso Traetta (1763)—this production presents Christoph Willibald Gluck’s take from 1779, staged at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, in a production by Lukas Hemleb and under the musical direction of Hartmut Haenchen.
