Two high-pitched male voices create a dialogue between Pergolesi and Vivaldi: in Versailles, Samuel Mariño and Filippo Mineccia perform the Stabat Mater, blending sorrow with virtuosity. From the Vivaldi version carried by Mineccia to the brilliance of In furore entrusted to Mariño, and finally to that of Pergolesi in the concluding duet, the programme is punctuated by Vivaldi’s Concerto RV 554a, with Marie Van Rhijn at the organ, Josek Zak on violin and Alice Coquart on cello.
