Freiburger Barockorchester in Ludwigsburg

At the Ludwigsburg Festspiele, the Freiburger Barockorchester gave two concerts in the impressive Ordensaal under the direction of Gottfried von der Goltz. The programme, featuring works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Friedrich Handel and Georg Philipp Telemann, was met with such enthusiasm that the local press headlined: “Handel in Paradise.”

Clématis at the Namur Festival

The ensemble Clématis, conducted by Brice Sailly, made a lasting impression at the Namur Festival with a performance of several cantatas by David Pohle — a gifted disciple of Heinrich Schütz — given in their original format in the beautiful Saint-Loup Church. Singers and orchestra were placed in the gallery, surrounding the recently restored organ of Saint-Loup, played by Maude Gratton. She also performed several German Baroque pieces closely related to Pohle’s repertoire.
