From the villancico to the jácara, Baroque Spain turns devotion into celebration. With “¡Una Fiesta española!”, Jorge Losana and Cantoría revive a seventeenth- and eighteenth-century repertoire in which theatre, dance, fervour and popular rhythms mingle freely. 
At Ambronay, Cantoría broadens the repertoire on which it built its reputation. After the polyphony of the Iberian Renaissance, the Spanish ensemble turns to the early Baroque and the eighteenth century with a programme bringing together José de San Juan, Joan Cererols, Sebastián Durón, José Martínez de Arce, Juan Francés de Iribarren, Santiago de Murcia and Mateo Romero. Around the voices, guitars, strings, organ, theorbo, dulcian and percussion give this sacred music an unmistakably theatrical colour.
