Les Chemins du Baroque dans le Nouveau Monde (Baroque Pathways in the New World) is the adventure of a lifetime: that of Alain Pacquier, who co-founded the project with his friend Lionel Lissot and founded the Sarrebourg International Music Festival, on the Franco-German border. Begun in 1985 with a journey to North America, it subsequently unfolded between France and Latin America, where the Paths worked to rediscover and pass on the Baroque repertoires of the New World through the training of musicians, the restoration of historic organs, musicological research, and recordings. Forty-one years later, following the departure from the Saint-Ulrich convent (Dolving, Moselle) and the transfer of the music collection to Paraguay, the Sarrebourg “Ultimo Festival” will definitively bring this story to a close on October 25.
