Mandolin virtuoso Avi Avital and the Venice Baroque Orchestra invite us to (re)discover Vivaldi’s concertos in the exceptional setting of the Salon Hercule at the Château de Versailles.
Musical instruments are not created equal. Some follow the royal road — think piano or violin — while others must carve out their own path. The mandolin belongs to the latter, and Israeli mandolinist Avi Avital is now giving this lute-like instrument its long-overdue place of honour. He is not only a virtuoso and imaginative performer, but also an artist who casts new light on every work he transposes.
