For its 40th edition, the Ribeauvillé Early Music Festival in Alsace is celebrating musical diversity, reflecting the universal beauty of music that transcends eras and borders. Since its creation in 1984, the festival has been committed to highlighting rare works of early music. The programme for the new edition is no exception. For Martin Gester, its artistic director, it is more than ever an ode to the diversity of genres, repertoires, concert venues and audiences. This is illustrated by ‘Rébellion’, the theme of the opening concert by The Curious Bards (20 September), and ‘La Beauté Barbare’ performed by Les Musiciens de Saint Julien (28 September).
