European tour begins for Pygmalion and Raphaël Pichon
Two concerts at the Philharmonie de Paris and at the Ambronay Festival marked the start of the European tour by the ensemble Pygmalion and its conductor Raphaël Pichon. In October, the tour continues to the Philharmonie Berlin, the Auditorium of the Opéra National de Bordeaux and the Konzerthaus Vienna, with the programme Welt, gute Nacht. This anthology of works by the masters of Johann Sebastian Bach focuses on pain – expressed with extraordinary depth and truth – but also on light. Also featured are gems by Philipp Erlebach, Nicolaus Bruhns, Daniel Speer and Johann Christoph Bach.
With Sabine Devieilhe, Carine Tinney, Maïlys de Villoutreys, Perrine Devillers, Lucile Richardot, William Shelton, Zachary Wilder, Antonin Rondepierre, Tomáš Král, Christian Immler, Renaud Brès, the Ensemble Pygmalion and Raphaël Pichon.

Maximiliano Danta wins 1st Prize at the Renata Tebaldi Competition 2025
The 10ᵗʰ Renata Tebaldi Baroque Voice Competition, organised in the Republic of San Marino by the Fondazione Renata Tebaldi, awarded 1st Prize to Maximiliano Danta, countertenor (Uruguay). The 2nd Prize went to Vojtech Pelka, countertenor (Czech Republic), and the 3rd to Ester Ferraro, mezzo-soprano (Italy). The competition brought together 30 international candidates, with the jury presided over by Laurent Brunner (director of the Château de Versailles Spectacles).

Madeleine Bazola-Minori, winner of the Normandy Baroque Singing Competition
The 7ᵗʰ Normandy Baroque Singing Competition, organised by the ensemble Le Poème Harmonique in partnership with the Opéra Orchestre National de Normandie Rouen, took place at the Chapelle Corneille in Rouen. The jury, chaired by soprano Véronique Gens, awarded the 1st Prize to Madeleine Bazola-Minori, mezzo-soprano (France), and the 2nd Prize to Allyn Wu, baritone (United Kingdom). The Audience Prize and the Young Talent Prize were awarded respectively to French sopranos Lisa Chaïb-Auriol and Apolline Raï-Westphal, while Belgian mezzo-soprano Sterre Decru received the Fundació Victoria de los Ángeles Prize.

Pierre Gennaï, laureate of the Froville Competition
French baritone Pierre Gennaï is the winner of the 14ᵗʰ Froville International Baroque Singing Competition 2025. He also received the Génération Opéra Prize. The jury, chaired by soprano Francesca Aspromonte, also honoured Morgan Mastrangelo, American tenor (2nd Prize), Mathilda Sidén Silfver, Swedish mezzo-soprano (3rd Prize), while British soprano Alysia Hanshaw won the Audience Prize. The six finalists were accompanied in the final by the ensemble I Gemelli.

An international “Early Music Focus” at Ambronay
At the initiative of the Institut Français and the Centre National de la Musique, the Ambronay Festival hosted an “Early Music Focus” in Lyon and Ambronay. Twenty-five international professionals from 19 countries (from Spain to Mexico, via China, Japan and Korea) were able to discover, through pitches and concerts, the vitality and creativity of some twenty French early music ensembles.
