New initiative from the Scala (Paris): at 13, bld de Strasbourg, every 13th of the month will be 100% Baroque, a new must-attend event for lovers of early music. ‘In a small wooden auditorium, in the intimacy of the blue of the Piccola Scala, a closeness to the artists and ideal acoustics for listening closely to a harpsichord recital or discovering young performers’, according to Rodolphe Bruneau-Boulmier, Director of Music at La Scala Paris.
For the first event on 13 March, La Scala has invited the ensemble Les Récréations to perform J.S. Bach’s The Art of Fugue. In 2023, the ensemble Les Récréations received a ‘Diapason d’or’ award for the recording of this score. ‘Les Récréations demonstrate the incredible vitality of these scholarly constructions; their eloquence makes one forget the masterful rigour through flexibility, even swing, and the emotion that rises from the depths…’ (Diapason)
