A princess promised to a king who is in fact a queen in disguise, an heir believed to be dead, and a web of thwarted love affairs: in “Arsilda, regina di Ponto”, Vivaldi unfolds a dizzying game of deception and mistaken identity. At the Opéra de Lille, Handel’s “Rodelinda” regains its full dramatic power in a production staged by Jean Bellorini and conducted by Emmanuelle Haïm at the head of Le Concert d’Astrée. An intense Baroque drama now available to watch in streaming.
Between heroism and comedy, Cavalli’s “Il Giasone” was the greatest operatic success of the seventeenth century. Rediscover this colourful Baroque fresco at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, in Serena Sinigaglia’s inventive staging, under the vibrant direction of Leonardo García-Alarcón.

The first opera to be streamed by our magazine this summer, Handel’s “Arminio” revives one of the composer’s rarest titles in a sumptuous production from the Karlsruhe Handel Festival. Conducted by George Petrou, the staging is by Max Emanuel Cenčić, who also sings the title role: a hero caught between political loyalty, family conflict and resistance to Rome.
