Julie Roset and Lucile Boulanger Honored at the 2025 French Victoires de la Musique

Early music took center stage at the 2025 Victoires de la Musique Classique, where Julie Roset was named “Vocal Revelation of the Year” and Lucile Boulanger won “Instrumental Soloist of the Year.” The awards were presented on March 5 at the Opéra de Rouen. For gambist Lucile Boulanger, the prize carries special significance, arriving 32 years after the victory of another iconic gambist, Jordi Savall.

The triumph of these two young artists confirmed a shift that had been evident since the nominations were announced: early music is having a moment in France. For the first time, two-thirds of the nominees in the top categories of the Victoires de la Musique came from the early music repertoire.
