The Kantor at Ambronay
For their first appearance at the Ambronay Festival in 2011, conductor Václav Luks and his ensemble Collegium 1704 reunite with Bach, six years after their “Bach-Praha”, the event that put him on the international map and created Collegium Vocale 1704. The programme includes the Easter Oratorio and the Magnificat, two masterpieces by the Kantor of Leipzig. Jubilant interweaving of voices and instruments, arias and duets that unfold at times with simplicity and humility, at others with grandeur and fervour… At the head of his incisive, colourful ensembles, he combines precision, imagination, contrast and virtuosity.
