This AI platform was founded nearly ten years ago by the University of Innsbruck and has been managed since 2019 by the European cooperative READ-COOP, which has around a hundred institutions and members worldwide. Over 100,000 registered users now use Transkribus regularly, from digitization departments of large institutions to individuals who wish to decipher family archives.
