30.08-28.09: Festival Barocco Alessandro Stradella

Since 2014, the Ensemble Mare Nostrum, founded by Andrea de Carlo, has been working to bring Alessandro Stradella (1643-1682), a little-known composer of the 17th century, back into the spotlight. This has resulted in a project to record all of his works (seven albums have already been released) and the creation of the Stradella Festival in Nepi, north of Rome, in the province of Viterbo, the composer’s birthplace. This year, the Stradella Festival will open on Saturday 30 August in Viterbo at Santa Maria Nuova with “An angel of paradise – The Orrigoni Songbook”, a collection of Stradella’s works brought together in homage to one of the great singers of the 17th century, the castrato Marc’Antonio Orrigoni, performed by the Ensemble Mare Nostrum conducted by maestro Andrea De Carlo and with the participation of soprano Silvia Frigato.
