St John Passion by Philippe Herreweghe (Kraków)

On Good Friday, as part of the Misteria Paschalia Festival, Collegium Vocale Gent performed Bach’s St John Passion at Kraków’s Congress Centre under the direction of Philippe Herreweghe.

With Reinoud Van Mechelen, Philippe Herreweghe and the ensemble Collegium Vocale Gent.

St Mark Passion by Ton Koopman (Cologne)

At the Cologne Philharmonie, Ton Koopman presented his reconstruction of Bach’s St Mark Passion, a fragmentary work originally performed in 1731 and later expanded in 1744.

With Elisabeth Breuer, Ton Koopman and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir.

St Matthew Passion by Francesco Corti (London)

At London’s Wigmore Hall, Francesco Corti led The English Concert in a performance of Bach’s St Matthew Passion, highlighting a historically informed approach to the masterpiece.

Easter Oratorio by Christophe Rousset (Lucerne)

In the main hall of the KKL Lucerne, Christophe Rousset and Les Talens Lyriques performed Bach’s Easter Oratorio, delivering a lively and expressive reading of this festive work.

With Anna El-Khashem, Christophe Rousset and the ensemble Les Talens Lyriques.

Gesù al Calvario by Zelenka, conducted by Václav Luks (Gdańsk)

At the St John’s Cultural Centre in Gdańsk, Václav Luks conducted Collegium 1704 in Zelenka’s Gesù al Calvario, a dramatic and rarely performed Baroque oratorio.

St Matthew Passion by Thibault Noally (Aix-en-Provence)

At the Grand Théâtre de Provence, as part of the Easter Festival, Thibault Noally conducted Les Ambassadeurs – La Grande Écurie in a performance of Bach’s St Matthew Passion, emphasising the emotional depth of the work.

With Julie Roset, Thibault Noally and the ensemble Les Ambassadeurs – La Grande Écurie.

Easter Oratorio by Jörg Zwicker (Kyiv)

At the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, Jörg Zwicker conducted the Liatoshynskyi Capella in Bach’s Easter Oratorio, paired with the Magnificat, in a performance imbued with spirituality.

At the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, Bach Collegium Japan, conducted by Masaaki Suzuki, performed Bach’s St Matthew Passion with remarkable precision and sensitivity.
