Jubilemus in Prague! 25 Years of Baroque Evenings with Collegium Marianum

The program for the 25th anniversary of the Baroque Evenings by Collegium Marianum in Prague (Czech Republic) highlights the diversity of national styles and their intersections in Baroque Europe, through both secular and sacred music.

For this special anniversary season, particular attention is given to the French repertoire, which Collegium Marianum regularly presents to Prague audiences with its unique interpretative style.

On Monday, April 7, the opening concert will take place at the Lobkowicz Palace. It will celebrate the timeless and deeply spiritual beauty of arias from the sacred cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach, performed by one of their most renowned interpreters: soprano Hana Blažíková.

On May 28, the concert “Douce dame jolie”, held at the Hvězda Summer Pavilion, will be dedicated to the literary and musical legacy of Guillaume de Machaut. This tribute to medieval courtly lyricism will shed light on the work of this French poet and composer, who served the King of Bohemia, John of Luxembourg, from a young age.

On June 10, the concert “Le concert royal” at the Břevnov Monastery will transport us to the salons of the royal court of Versailles. With the accession of Louis XV, Queen Marie Leszczyńska became the patron of chamber music concerts. The program will evoke the instrumental music of royal court musicians, including François Couperin, François Francœur, and Louis-Gabriel Guillemain.
