Échos du baroque (Echoes of the Baroque) is an original exhibition that brings Spanish 18th-century music back to life through a series of period objects, presented in an equally historical setting. Musical scores, instruments such as a two-key oboe, castanets, a fan depicting a dance scene, librettos, costumes, and engravings illustrate the musical world of Juan de Goyeneche—within the palace that was once his home.
This palace is located in the heart of the village of Nuevo Baztán, about 50 kilometers east of Madrid. Juan de Goyeneche founded the village from scratch in the 18th century to establish a glassworks factory there. At the time, music was everywhere: in theaters, churches, on the streets, in public squares, and palaces. It will also accompany the exhibition itself, with two concerts scheduled in parallel on Saturday, May 17, and Saturday, June 21.
