Orlando at the Museum, at the Châtelet (Paris)
The Talens lyriques and their conductor Christophe Rousset were the key figures behind the success of Orlando, Handel’s opera recently performed at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, directed by Jeanne Desoubeaux. Conceived as a storyline set in various rooms of a living museum where actors emerge from paintings and mannequins come to life, the staging aimed to ‘contemplate works of the past with a contemporary eye to find meaning and emotion.’
With Katarina Bradić, Siobhan Stagg, Elizabeth DeShong, Giulia Semenzato, Riccardo Novaro, Les Talens lyriques, Christophe Rousset, and the dance students of the Ida Rubinstein Conservatory.

Laments and Sighs at the Cité Bleue (Geneva)
Leonardo García-Alarcón presented at the Cité Bleue in Geneva in early February an evening immersed in the most beautiful monodies of Sigismondo d’India (1582–1629), the musical cousin of Claudio Monteverdi and the undisputed master of the genre. The expressive power of his music makes him one of the greatest musical figures of his time. The program was enhanced by the voices of Mariana Flores and Gwendoline Blondeel, around which the musicians of the Cappella Mediterranea wove a tapestry of love through melodies that were at times dramatic, refined, dance-like, or enchanting.
